Jo had the dubious training of a Creative Writing degree (specialising in writing for young people) which seems to have allowed her, even encouraged her to play wilfully with words. She became fascinated with puppets since they first crawled into her subconscious and refused to move out (around the time of being awe struck to her seat watching the puppets of the Dark Crystal stride and glide across the silver screen.)
She started her puppet training watching the capable helmsmanship of Tony Gee,
Far and Wide/Moveable Feast and has since crewed upon many a fine vessel, creating shows, scripts and puppets for
Ipa Productiones - Barcelona,
Buho Teatro - Seville,
Los Kaos Street Theatre - UK,
Theatre Powys,
National Youth Theatre of Wales
and many more. But mostly she has been hauled up with the vagabonds and ne'r-do-wells who keep puppetry and storytelling and theatrical magic of one sort or another, alive and well under the generous sail of Vagabondi.
She was once crowned the bard of Machynlleth in a pub poetry competition.
